Equip Exposition 2026 Is Two Weeks Out: What Contractors Should Actually Plan to See in Louisville

Equip Exposition, the outdoor power equipment and landscaping industry's largest annual trade show, returns to the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville October 20 through 23, 2026. If you've never been, or you went once years ago and wrote it off as a landscaping-only show, it's worth a second look — the event has grown into one of the only trade shows where contractors, dealers, and manufacturers across construction and outdoor power equipment actually get real hands-on time with new machines, not just a walk past a static display.

"We build on what works — and continue to evolve while factoring in attendee feedback and industry trends," says Kris Kiser, president and CEO of the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute, which owns the show. "People want to test equipment, network, get training and find new ways to make money."

The Thing Most Shows Don't Have: 30 Acres You Can Actually Drive

The headline feature every year is the Outdoor Demo Yard — 30 acres outside the Kentucky Exposition Center where attendees can actually drive, mow, chop, dig, and trench with the latest equipment, instead of just looking at it on a stand. No other construction or outdoor-power trade show offers hands-on time at this scale, and it's the single best reason to go in person rather than just reading the press releases afterward.

Alongside the main demo yard, this year's show expands the UTV Driving Experience and UTV Corral, where manufacturer reps are on hand to answer product questions while you put utility vehicles through curves, hills, rocks, and water. The Tree Care Arena in Freedom Hall runs live arborist demonstrations on a 50-foot tree, with interactive training on safety in that growing niche.

A New John Deere Compact Excavator Makes Its Public Debut

If you run compact equipment, there's a genuinely newsworthy reason to be there this year specifically: John Deere's 40 P-Tier Compact Excavator is set to make its full public debut at Equip Exposition. The 40 P-Tier slots into a real gap in Deere's lineup, between the existing 35 P-Tier and 50 P-Tier, and stays under the 10,000-pound operating weight threshold that keeps it out of CDL-trailering territory for most operators. It ships with Attachment Manager, CommandARM, an 8-inch touchscreen, and JDLink telematics standard — features that used to be reserved for Deere's larger excavators.

It's not the only new-product news worth tracking. The New Product Showcase in the West Wing runs more than 40 entries this year, covering the latest equipment and product development across every exhibitor category — genuinely worth a slow walk-through even if you came for one specific machine.

What Else Is Worth Your Time

  • Keynote address from Mike Holmes, the HGTV star and veteran contractor, bringing his "make it right" philosophy to the main stage Wednesday, sponsored by Kress.

  • The Dealer Breakfast, a direct line to equipment dealer leadership and potential partners before the floor opens Wednesday morning.

  • The West Wing's drone zone and golf experience, alongside the rest of the new-product exhibits — badge pickup and rideshare drop-off are also located here.

  • Equip Academy, which keeps every education session from the show available online afterward for $170 (price increased after September 10) — a practical way to get the training value even if you can only make one day in person.

Registration runs on a tiered price scale: it was $30 through September 10, rose to $60 on September 11, and is $120 starting October 20, the first day of the show — so if you haven't registered yet, budget for the on-site rate. A Good Time to Lock In Financing Before You Buy at the Show

Every year, a meaningful share of contractors leave Equip Exposition having seen the exact machine they want to buy, and then spend the next two or three weeks figuring out how to pay for it — losing momentum and sometimes losing the deal terms a dealer offered on the floor. If there's a real chance you'll want to move on a new compact excavator, skid steer, or attachment package after walking the demo yard, it's worth having your financing conversation started before the show, not after.

At BFC Equipment Loans, we finance and lease excavators, skid steers, backhoes, dozers, dump trucks, and semi trucks for startups and existing businesses nationwide, with good or bad credit. Getting pre-approved before you walk the floor means you can act on a real deal the moment you see it, instead of watching it slip away while financing gets sorted out.
